8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
At a meeting held in the Reform Club, New York, the representatives of the various colleges, Professor B. I. Wheeler of Cornell, F. S. Bangs and J. A. B. Cowles of Columbia, Thomas Reath for the U. of P., and Captain Goodrich of Harvard finally came to a decision as to the boat race.
The result of the conference is that Harvard, Cornell and Yale will meet in a four mile 'varsity race to be rowed on June 24 or 25. It was also agreed to hold the Harvard-Cornell-Yale freshman race on June 23. The regatta committee, which will govern these contests, will probably be composed of one man from each university. The referee will be selected later.
Cornell also arranged to row Columbia and Pennsylvania a second race on July 2, which will give her a week's rest after the Harvard and Yale race.
The Cornell-Columbia-Pennsylvania freshman race was fixed for June 30. All the events will be rowed over the four-mile course at Poughkeepsie.
As Cornell decidedly prefers to row on June 25, it has seemed best to defer to her wishes in the matter, in return for the many concessions she has made. As Class Day will be the 25th, however, it is hoped that some other date can be fixed, and it is possible that the race will take place earlier.
