The Senior crew commenced training on Monday with about twenty candidates. B. F. Goodnough '83 will coach the crew. He has not been out as yet, however, and yesterday Captain Duffield, Dunlop and Phelps coached. The work at present consists of a half hour's rowing followed by chest weights and a run on the board track. Yesterday the first crew was made up as follows:
Stroke, Stevens; 7, Rantoul; 6, Hovey; 5, Scott; 4, Dexter; 3, Sullivan; 2, Saunders; bow, Scattergood. Other candidates out yesterday, were J. Carpenter, Buell, R. R. Hollister, Capen, Montague, Kidder and Noble.
Several more men are expected to come out shortly, among them being Wrightington, Phelps, Gleason and Sleeper, all of whom have rowed before. The crew has purchased a shell from the Shawmut Boat Club which has already been rigged by Davy with whole pins and level slides and is all ready for use whenever the crew goes on the water.
