Fishermen's Reading Room.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The reading-room conducted by Harvard men for fishermen on the Boston T Wharf has been open daily since January 6. As the need for such a room had long been felt, the success of the undertaking has proved complete. Financial support has been forthcoming through the kindness of the Boston Port Society, and the interest taken by the fish merchants and the seamen themselves has proved most gratifying.

The room is a sail-loft refitted in an attractive style and is used daily by over one hundred men for reading, writing, smoking and playing games. Hitherto the reading matter has consisted of the daily papers and of such back numbers of the illustrated periodicals as were donated. The fresh current numbers would naturally prove more interesting and attractive to the readers.

It has been suggested that instead of drawing on our rather slender financial resources, the students at Harvard be asked to give a year's subscription to the following periodicals: Life $4.50, Judge $4.25, Puck's Library $1.00, Munsey's $1.00, Godey's $1.00, Strand $1.00, Black Cat 50 cents, Harper's Weekly $3.45, Illustrated American $3.45, Metropolitan $1.00, Ladies' Home Journal $1.00, Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper $3.45, Scientific American $4.25.

In many cases these are discount prices given by Amee Bros., and money may be sent either for a special periodical or to be used at the discretion of the committee. In all cases contributions will be acknowledged and credited if sent within a week to
