I am sure you must agree with me, upon second thoughts, that this is an unfortunate way of cementing our relations, and if persisted in may encourage the repetition of history, which would be lamentable.

Obviously I do not represent Yale athletics, officially or otherwise. I have only the defense for expressing my views which every pro-Harvard-Yale man has.

I sincerely hope that you will find space in your columns for this "gentle reminder." Its kindly reception will help to remove an unpleasant impression.
