Weld Four-Oars.

The Weld four-oared race, which took place Wednesday afternoon, was one of the closest races of the season. Owing to the strong favoring wind and tide, exceptionally fast time was made. The course was a mile straight-away down stream and the finish was under the Harvard Bridge.

The three crews were even until the last few strokes, when Bancroft's boat spurted ahead four feet. Harding's crew came in second, with Hodges's six feet behind. The time was 5 minutes fiat.

The winning crew was made up as follows: Stroke, Bancroft 1 G.; 3, E. James 2 L.; 2. F. N. Morrill 1 L.; bow, P. Nichols 3 L. These men rowed on the Weld Graduate and Senior crew last year.

Harding's boat consisted of three of the regular Weld 1900 crew and one of the substitutes. Hodges's four is the crew that defeated B. A. A., by 10 lengths, in the four-oared race last year

All the men rowed in fine form and the result of the race was uncertain to the very end.
