The official figures of the registration of the different classes in the College up to the present time are as follows:
1897-98 1896-97
Seniors, 337 328
Juniors, 383 377
Sophomores, 443 473
Freshmen, 470 416
Specials, 163 160
Total, 1796 1754
This shows an increase in the College department over last year, which was slightly behind 1895-96 in number of academic students. In 1895-96 the total number in the College was 1758 and in 1894-95 1661.
Although the academic class of 1901 is three less in number than last year's Sophomore class, the entering class as a whole, including specials and first year Scientific students, is the largest that has yet registered.
There is likely to be some change in this classification and also some increase in the total number by the time that the Catalogue is issued in December.
