E. E. Southard '97 and A. W. Ryder '97 played chess simultaneously last Saturday evening against eighteen players at the Boston Chess Club. They followed each other around the boards, making alternate moves. Only four of their eighteen opponents defeated them. The four successful players were Messrs. Thayers, Long, Escott and Knight.
