The '98 crew has now been working for two days. Since the first call for candidates the following men have joined the squad, which now numbers thirty-three: H. H. Richards, R. B. Flershem, C. M. Sheafe, E. L. Sanborn, C. C. Payson, and J. Adams. The work so far has consisted merely of about ten minutes' rowing on the machines, but next week Captain Adams intends to begin exercises on the chestweights and out-door runs. He also hopes to make the training more attractive by varying it with out-door work such as skating.
The coaching is now being done by Adams, assisted by Hurey and Huidekoper. Adams, Scull, Barnes and Dobyns are the only ones of last year's crew who have as yet come out, but Ames, Fuller and Rice will undoubtedly join the squad later. Bull is with the 'Varsity and Cabot will probably be too busy with spring football to row. Nevertheless, there are a number of promising candidates, including Dubois and Butler of last year's Weld Boat Club crew, so that the outlook is in no way discouraging.
