The College Nine was badly beaten by the Carter Base Ball Club at Franklin last Saturday. Although the College was decidedly weakened by the absence of Hayes, Bouve, and Clark, the men played a poor game, being unable to hit the ball at critical times, and fielding loosely.

The Carter nine batted well, making fourteen hits with a total of twenty-one, and played a good game in the field.
