An Appeal from Graduates.

To the Students at Harvard:-

The undersigned, graduates of Harvard, charged in large part with the arrangements for the observance of the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Cambridge deem it of much importance that the undergraduates take part in the procession on June 3d. The significance of the day has been recognized by the College authorities, who have assigned no examinations for that day. Indeed, it is intended by the President and Fellows that it should be observed as a general holiday. In other words, the University authorities have recognized the importance of the day.

When you became students at Harvard you joined a society known to the world as Harvard College. You assumed thereby certain obligations, at least such is our view, and it is as Harvard graduates, as well as citizens of Cambridge that we address you. We think that you will be willing to make the small effort that is required to take part in the parade. A procession representing the different interests of Cambridge, without the presence of a large number of Harvard undergraduates would be strikingly incomplete. The arrangements need not be extensive. A few hours on the day of the parade and a little time given to the preparation is all that is required, and the expense need only be small.

We think that the welfare of the College requires you to be in the parade, and we not only cordially invite you, but we appeal to you as Harvard men willing to do your part in supporting the interests of Harvard to join in the parade.
