NEW HAVEN, CONN., May 6.- Henry Cross, Yale's hammer thrower, in practice today threw the hammer 143 feet, beating the best previous record held by Hickok by 8 feet. This practically assures the championship for hammer throwing to Yale in the intercollegiate match.
