For the third consecutive time the Harvard fencing team won the intercollegiate fencing championship at the third annual competition of the intercollegiate association held in the gymnasium of the New York Racquet and Tennis Club last Saturday. Columbia and the U. S. Naval Academy were the other participants.

Twenty-seven bouts of four minutes each were contested, and the teams were so evenly matched that at the end of the twenty-fourth bout the score stood eight points all.

The next two bouts dropped the Naval Academy to third place, leaving the contest to Harvard and Columbia.

The last bout was between A. G. Thacher '97, and G. T. Kirby, Columbia. It was so evenly contested that at the end of the time the judges called for two minutes more, after which the decision was given to Harvard.

The scores were: Harvard, 10; Columbia, 9; Naval Academy, 8.

A medal for the highest individual score was won by Fitzhugh Townsend of the Columbia team.

The team trophy is a handsome and valuable bronze figure, which was presented to the intercollegiate fencing association by the Racquet and Tennis Club. It has been competed for three times, and each time has been won by the Harvard team. It is held for one year.
