Yesterday afternoon the Freshman nine defeated Brookline High School in an uninteresting game by the score of six to nothing. The Freshman played an errorless game and the fielding was good in every respect. The batting, however, was very weak, as Robinson and Morse were the only men who could hit safely. Thompson again acted as captain and put considerable life into the team. Lynch pitched a fine game for Ninety-nine, striking out nine men and giving only one base on balls. Davis as catcher played in good form and accepted ten chances without an error. Litchfield also played well in the field. For Brookline High, Manning pitched a good game and Hutchins and Lewis fielded well, but the team was very weak at the bat.
In the first inning Thompson was hit by a ball and took first, Lynch got a base on balls, and both scored on a wild throw. B. H. S. went out in order. In the second inning Davis struck out, Nowell was hit by a ball and took his base. Litchfield got his base on balls. McCall was out, hit by a batted ball. Thompson hit to shortstop who fumbled letting in two runs. Lynch struck out. No more scoring was done till the seventh inning. Thompson flied out, Lynch got first on an error by third, and got to third on Morse's hit. Morse stole second and Lynch scored on Sherwin's sacrifice. Morse coming in a moment later on Robinson's hit. This ended the scoring as only seven innings were played.
