Whist Match.

In the whist match Saturday night between the American short suit team and the Harvard team, Harvard was defeated by thirteen tricks. The Harvard team was very much weakened by the fact that owing to the illness of Peck, Miller had to be substituted at the last moment. As Morrill and he had never played together as partners before, their playing was naturally rather erratic. Taking this fact into consideration, the result of the match was, on the whole, very satisfactory, for the American team was a very strong one.

The score by rounds was as follows:

Gain. Loss.

Round 1, Harvard, 4 9

Round 2, Harvard, 2 0

Round 3, Harvard, 0 10

6 19

The American team consisted of Howell and Clay; Becker and Knowles; Denison and Arnold.
