8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Professor Farnham of Yale University has purchased for the college library a valuable collection of books from the library of Professor Gueist of Berlin, one of the leading authorities on the legal and constitutional history of England. The collection consists of about 10,000 volumes, chiefly on political, historical and legal subjects.
The bookseller who had Professor Gueist's library in charge offered the whole collection for $2500 to the first bidder. Professor Farnham at once cabled an acceptance of the offer and obtained the collection. He took this action on his own responsibility, fearing that if he delayed the library would be purchased by others, but a donor has since come forward to furnish the funds.
