The practice of the 'varsity football squad yesterday afternoon was shorter than usual, although more spirited. Wheeler, Bouve and Frank Shaw were in the line-up for the first time, while Donald and Haughton both reappeared on the field, although they did not play. Flershem, of last year's '98 class team, came out to try for end. Dibblee, who was tried at quarter-back, did poorly, being responsible for most of the fumbling on the fourth eleven.
The set of backs on the third eleven in the second line-up did some brilliant work, which made the practice the most interesting so far this year. Dayton made some long runs, chiefly through Moulton's ability to push Loop aside easily, as well as through the effective blocking of Cozzens and Cabot.
