The Freshman Eleven.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman have now been out since the first of October and the squad has been reduced from 100 to some 25 men. The candidates and the positions they are trying for are as follows:

Halfbacks-Parker, Brayton, Oglesby, Rust, Adsit, Kidner.

Fullbacks-Edmands, Brown.

Quarterbacks-Hatch, Edmunds.

Ends-Hawkins, Davis, Beardsell, Beard, Forbes, Hurd.

Tackles-Gray, Follansbee, Hayes, Talbot, Barnie.

Guards-Hunt, Boal, Trainer, Fabian, Crane.

Centres-Egbert, Crane, K. Martin.

J. Crane '90 is the regular coach, and is assisted at times by G. Murchie '95.

The line is rather light, but on the whole the material is fair. The principal faults are carelessness and seeming lack of interest. The backs would be much better if they put more life and snap into their play.

The most promising men are now at the training table at Mrs. Ransford's. These are: Brayton, Edmunds, Edmands, Davis, Beardsell, Trainer, Boal, Egbert, Hurd, Gray.

Beardsell is temporary captain, but no regular captain has yet been appointed.

As it seems now, the eleven which will play U. of P. 1900 on November 21 will be chosen from the present squad, as no 1900 men can be spared from the 'Varsity squad at present.

The Freshman play the Sophomores on Friday, and, if they do not win, they will be the first Freshman team for several years which has not won its first class game.
