Fall Practice of 'Varsity Baseball.

It is now a little over two weeks since Captain Dean has had the 'Varsity baseball candidates out for fall practice, and in all probability the work for this year will end on Thursday. Outside of the old men who have played on the various class teams, but few freshmen have turned out and, with one or two exceptions, these men are not a very promising lot. So far the work has consisted of batting and fielding practice, followed, as has been the case for the last three days, by an irregular game in which every man has had an opportunity to show his ability. On Thursday a regular nine inning game will be played. The names of the thirty-four men who have been out so far are as follows:

Pitchers.- Jenney L. S., Fitz '99, Daly '98, Schwill '00.

Catchers.- Morton L. S. S., Slade '98, Simpson '99.

First-base,- Stearns '99, Holt '00, Nowell '00, Cook '00.

Second-base.- Kernan '97, Clark '00.

Short-stop.- Dickson '00, McVey '98, Chandler '98, Vincent '98, Loughlin '00.

Third-base-Gregory '97, Foster '00, Litchfield '99, Lane '00, Coleman '99, Wheeler '00, Hayes '98.

Out-field.- Rand '98, Burgess '98, Sears '99, Lynch '99, McCall '99, Abbott '98, Kimball '98, Nichols '97, Ladd '00.
