The Christian Association held its first meeting of the year last night in Holden Chapel. The meeting was well attended and many of those present were new students. President W. W. Orr '96, opened the meeting with a short address, explaining, for the benefit of the new men, the nature of the Associatian work. He said that the Association stood as a body of Christian young men who are united for Christian fellowship and work, and that by allying himself with it a student would find an opportunity of putting into practice the principles of his Christianity. Among others who spoke were J. E. Gregg '97, W. H. Porter '98, H. G. Dorman '96, J. P. Warren '96, and W. W. Comfort The scope of the missionary work will be enlarged this year, but its character will remain unchanged. In the religious census taken yesterday many of the incoming class expressed their willingness to engage in philanthropic work, and last night several signified their intention of joining the Christian Association.
