WORCESTER, MASS., June 4. - Holy Cross and Amherst played on the college grounds today in a drizzling rain and Holy Cross won without any trouble. For four innings Amherst did not get a man as far as second. An error by Maroney in the fifth let them fill the base and they made 4 of their 6 hits in that inning, tieing the score. But Gregory, who had struck out six in the first four innings, lost control of the wet ball and Holy Cross put in a few well-timed hits. Powers made a home run. The score:

Innings, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Holy Cross, 3 0 0 0 1 2 2 - 8

Amherst, 0 0 0 0 4 0 0 - 4

Base hits - Holy Cross 7, Amherst 6. Errors - Holy Cross 2. Amherst 5.
