The invitation handicap meeting of the Yale Athletic Association was held at the Yale field Saturday afternoon. The games were an innovation, being the first spring games in which Yale has invited outsiders to take part. Harvard, Princeton, Pennsylvania and Union colleges all sent representatives, and so did New York, Boston, Passaic and other leading athletic clubs.

Sheldon of Yale broke the record for the running broad jump, held by Mapes of Columbia. Mapes's record was 22 ft. 11 1/2 in. Sheldon cleared 23 feet.

Burke of the Boston Athletic Association covered the quarter in the very fast time of 49 2/5s. Just before his race he had covered the 230 in very fast time.

Kilpatrick of Union College did especially good work in the half mile. He ran away from his Yale competitor, and did the distance in 1m. 58 1/5s. Thomas and Allen of Yale tied for first place in the pole vault at 10 ft. 11 1/2 in.

The prizes were handsome loving cups for both first and second place men.
