The establishment of the American School of Architecture at Rome has led to the consolidation of the two McKim Fellowships of $1,000 each at Columbia College into one of $2,000, with the condition attached that the winner shall remain two years abroad and shall spend ten months of this time in the school at Rome. Six months are to be actually spent in Rome itself, and the other four devoted to travel and study in Italy or Greece under the direction of the secretary of the school. This change has been made in accordance with the wishes of the donor, C. F. McKim. The first competition under the new conditions will take place this spring.
