At the recent banquet of the Harvard Club of Chicago, Professor Royce explained the reasons for the Faculty's action in regard to intercollegiate football. He was apparently of the belief that if, in future years, plans for a satisfactory reform should be matured, the Faculty might withdraw their opposition to intercollegiate games. E. H. Warren '95 spoke on the sentiment among students in regard to this action. The sentiment of the graduates present, according to the Chicago Tribune, was rather with the students than the Faculty. The feeling seemed to be strong that, while reform was badly needed, the Faculty were unwise in taking at the outset so radical a step.
