F. L. Ames was elected captain of the freshman crew yesterday afternoon just before the men began to row. Ames is from Boston and entered from Groton School, where he rowed. He was a very promising candidate for tackle on the freshman eleven until he received an injury which prevented his playing. He came out to try for the crew with the other football men and has been rowing on the first crew from the start. He is of good weight and rows in good form.
