More than 4600 volumes have been added to the Institute of Technology library the past year, making the total more than 50,000. One of the most recent acquisition is 261 volumes, the gift of Thomas Gaffield, a retired Boston merchant. These books treat of the manufacture of glass and porcelain, and are many of them very rare. The volumes date back to 1647. Two of them are valued at $100 each, and the whole collection is worth $1000.
