A largely attended meeting of those interested in the work of the Student Volunteer Committee was held at Professor Peabody's house last evening. Mr. Birtwell presided and first introduced. Professor Peabody. He congratulated the committee on last year's work and on the spirit then shown. He said that while a year ago the committee was an experiment, now the work is established on a firm basis.
Rev. P. S. Moxom said he was greatly interested in seeing how much good could be done incidentally by students really zealous in the work. He thought that a great deal of vice in this world is due to want of recreation. People are only now beginning to appreciate the moral value of entertainment.
Several graduates and undergraduates followed with short speeches, telling their experiences in the various departments of work of the committee.
