A tablet "in commemoration of the courage and humanity displayed by Stephen Girard during the epidemic of yellow fever prevailing in Philadelphia in the year 1793" was unveiled in Girard College in Philadelphia on Tuesday. During the epidemic he abandoned his business and his home, and assumed the superintendence of a yellow fever hospital.
