Princeton defeated Cornell on Saturday in one of the closest football games that has been seen in some time.
Contrary to expectations Princeton was amazingly weak, considering the game she put up against Harvard a week ago. For the greater part of the time Cornell kept the ball well down in Princeton territory, and it was not until within a few moments of the end of the last half that Princeton braced up and forced the ball toward Cornell's goal line.
The time was almost up and it was a question of great uncertainty whether it was possible for Princeton to carry the ball the remaining distance before the referee's whistle should blow.
Mr. Duffield announced that there were but two minutes more to play when Princeton had the ball on Cornell's 25 yard line. From that time Princeton gained from four to eight yards at every play. Bannard and Rosengarten did their best. At length just as time was called Riggs crossed the line for Princeton's only touchdown.
