The 'varsity crew went out yesterday afternoon at the usual time in spite of the rough water. Coach Perkins steered the shell and Dr. W. A. Brooks and Harry Keyes coached the men from the launch.
The sixty-one and a half foot paper shell, built for the 'varsity by Waters of Troy, has arrived. It looks wide and has not the usual depth of a 'varsity shell.
The freshman crew have been measured for rowing suits, caps and sweaters.
In the two mile race Saturday between the varsity and the '96 crew, the former rowed one stroke less to the minute than the latter throughout the race. At the end of the first mile '96 was a boat length and a half ahead of the 'varsity. This lead was brought down to one boat length by the time the two mile stake was reached.
