Brown won its first game in the series with Harvard on Saturday. The playing was very slow and the game most uninteresting. The Harvard team lacked life and snap. Captain Wiggin was away and his place in centre field was filled by Hayes. Owing to injuries to both O'Malley and Scannell, Corbett caught. His throwing to bases was very reckless and he had five passed balls. Highlands's pitching was fairly effective, confining Brown to five hits, with a total of seven. For Harvard, Dickinson and Cook played the best game in field, but the whole team seemed to lack snap and played in a half-hearted, careless manner.

Harvard made her only runs in the first inning. Whittemore hit out to second. Cook then made a single. Dickinson hit to right field, who fumbled, and Cook reached second. Both men advanced a base on Paine's sacrifice and came home on Stevenson's twobagger.

Harvard's batting was very weak and the men were unable to hit White's pitching effectively. The score:
