Harvard, 8; Andover, 7.

Harvard defeated the Phillips Academy nine at Andover yesterday, but it was no easy victory and the score at the close was 8 to 7. Andover put up a very strong game and as Harvard fielded very poorly, especially in two innings, they were able to make things interesting. Whittemore had decidedly an off day at second and Stevenson dropped two easy flies in cnetre. The latter, however, batted well and it was his three-base hit in the seventh which sent in two runs and started the Harvard spurt. Corbett covered first in place of Dickinson, who injured his thumb in the Amherst game. He had one bad muff and poor headwork on his part cost a run. The score by innings:

Innings, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Harvard, 1 1 0 0 2 0 4 0 -8

Andover, 0 4 0 0 1 1 0 0 1-7

Hits-Harvard 11, Andover 9; errors-Harvard 8, Andover 4; earned runs-Harvard 3.
