On Saturday the general call for candidates for the Yale baseball nine was issued by Captain George Case. The battery material has been practicing in the cage for two weeks, but the regular training did not open until Saturday.
In answer to the call about sixty men presented themselves, and were given a short run and gymnastic exercises. The men from last year's nine were: Speer, right field; Stephenson, first base; Hedges, second base; Arbuthnot, third base; Greenway, catcher; Rustin, third base; Carter, pitcher; Bigelow, substitute out field; Case, left field, and Warner substitute pitcher.
The men who played on class teams were Colgate '96, DeSibour '96, Dwight '95, Howland '94, George '94, Goss '94, Farnam '95 S., Starkweather '96, Salter '95, Trudean '96, Taylor '96, Twombly '96, Thorne '96, Wilcox '95 S.
John Clarkson will arrive on February 21 to coach the men for four weeks.
