Harvard and Yale.

Both Elevens Ready for the Great Game.

Yesterday afternoon the football teams of the two colleges which are to compete today at Springfield both received enthusiastic send-offs. The Harvard team left from the front of University Hall instead of from Leavitt & Peirce's, as has been the custom in years gone by, and the change was a great improvement. The steps of the Hall were crowded, and the men pressed closely around the two barges that were to receive the players. When the eleven at last appeared, Vail '92, former captain of the 'varsity crew, led the crowd in cheers for the individual players, the coaches, and the substitutes, and at last as the barges drove off, in repeated long "Harvards." Then men raced for Harvard street and again cheered the team as it passed. A more enthusiastic send off has not been known here for years.

At Yale much the same thing happened. Hundreds of enthusiastic students saw the eleven leave the college, and a crowd collected at the railroad station to cheer their final departure; with the team went the coaches and an army of rubbers and assistants of all sorts. The cooking apparatus which has been used for the training table was taken along that there might be no change in the diet to which the men have been accustomed.

The officials this year, as chosen November 15, will be: Referee, Dr. David Boviard, Princeton '89, and one of the present coaches of the Princeton eleven; umpire, Alexander Moffatt, of Princeton, who has officiated as umpire or referee for several years; linesman, Captain Pratt, of the Crescent Athletic Club, a graduate of Amherst in '94.

The make-up of both teams this afternoon can not be given with absolute certainty, but about the Harvard elevens there is no chance for doubt. In the line-up as given below, the names of more than one player are put where there is any probability of change, the one who comes first being most likely to play. In the case of Captain Emmons, the question is only of his ability to finish the game; if he can play throughout, he undoubtedly will.
