Owing to the lack of entries in the fall scratch races, they have been postponed until next week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, instead of this week Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The time for receiving entries has been extended to Saturday noon.
There does not seem to be in general a clear idea of what these scratch races are for. They have been organized first of all for new men who have never rowed and who want to begin. All '98 men, especially, who expect to try for their class crew should enter, for they will be under the eye of the 'varsity management and receive the best of coaching.
If a suitable number of good men show up in these scratch races it is proposed to pick the ten best men who row for each class; class crews will thus be formed and they will train for a one mile straight-a-way race in the basin to come off about the last of October.
