Tomorrow afternoon at about four o'clock the fall class races will be rowed over the last mile of the regular two-mile course in the basin.
For twelve days crews from '95, '96 and '97 have been rowing on the river in barges. Not so much material appeared at the call for candidates that the captains of the several crews could exercise much choice in the men they took to row. On the whole, however, the new men have begun to row together in fair shape, especially in the '97 boat, which seems to have a good deal of life and snap. Ninety-seven is particularly fortunate in having three men on her crew who rowed at New London and also other men who rowed with the crew for a short time last spring.
Captain Forbes has worked hard over the new material in the '96 boat. Some improvement is noticeable, but the men are still very ragged in time, and all exhibit wretched blade work and get very little power in their stroke.
Ninety-five men have not evinced much interest in their crew and on few days have they had a full crew of eight men to practice.
The following are the make-ups of the several crews as they rowed Monday:
Ninety-five - Stroke, Ninde; 7, Smith; 6, Capen; 5, Fairbanks; 4, Pool; 3, E. Brown; 2, Raymond; bow, - ; cox., Frazer.
Ninety-six - Stroke, Kales; 7, Forbes; 6, Shea; 5, Barrett; 4, Lyman; 3, Greenough; 2, Wadsworth; bow, B. Frothingham; cox., Day.
Ninety-seven - Stroke, Cornwall; 7, Kernan; 6, Williams; 5, Phelps; 4, Stevens; 3, Elder; 2, Lord; bow, Little; cox., Orton.
Ninety-six and Ninety-seven will probably row on Wednesday as they are given here.
The 'varsity rowed yesterday in the following order: Stroke, R. H. Stevenson; 7, T. G. Stevenson; 6, Sprague; 5, Duffield; 4, Bullard; 3, Lewis; 2, Fennessy; bow, Townsend.
