The University of Pennsylvania will have seven of her last year's baseball team with whom to begin practice in the spring. They are Hollister, Reese, Thomas, Boswell, Contrell, Coogan, and Goeckel. She will lose, however, two of her best men in Thompson, captain of last year's team, and Bayne, who for two years held the position of pitcher, and was one of the best batters in the University.
Of the new material the most promising men are Schoenhut and Gray, the two candidates for pitcher, and Charles Gelbert, who is going to try for the outfield. Schoenhut was the captain of last year's Germantown academy team, which won the inter academic championship chiefly through his pitching.
Second base has been left vacant by ex-captain Thompson, and for this position the best man is Andy Speese, who played on the Atlantic City team last summer.
Charles Hollister has been elected captain for this year, and Arthur Irwin has been engaged to coach the men until April.
