The first week's training of the Yale 'varsity crew candidates ended Saturday. Many new men are out, including the members of last year's freshman crew. The old men were expected to appear Saturday, but besides Captain Treadway, the only ones who came out were Langford and Longacre. Cross and Beard will probably not try for the crew this year. The week's training has consisted of the regulation run, which has been lengthened to three miles, gymnasium exercises, and rowing in the tank. More than usual interest is being taken in the crew this year, and large crowds watch the daily practice. The names of the candidates with weights are as follows: Langford, 174; Longacre, 182; Treadway, 172; Campbell, 173; Bailey, 178; Coonley, 178; Rodgers, 183; Chadwick, 188; Judd, 170; Miller, 160; Wheelwright, 150; Simpson, 160; Wilcox, 154; Marsh, 168; Whitney, 174; Cadwalader, 175; Sutphin, 180; McGraw, 159; Monks, 173; Patterson, 171; E. G. Smith, 160; A. B. Smith, 168; Hitchcock, 172; McLaughlan, 160; Tweedy, 176.
