Yesterday afternoon A. P. Hawes of Hopkinson's defeated Beals Wright of the same school in the final round of the interscholastic tennis tournament. This was the closest match that has been played in the tournament for a number of years. Wright being three times within a point of winning the championship.

Semi-Final Round.
A. P. Hawes of Hopkinson's beat S. Ware of Brookline High, 6-3, 6-2.
Beals Wright of Hopkinson's beat C. Cummings of Newton High, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
Final Round.
A. P. Hawes of Hopkinson's beat Beals Wright of Hopkinson's, 5-7, 0-6, 6-4, 8 6, 6-4.
The standing of the schools in the tournament is as follows: Hopkinson's 21, Newton High 13, Milton Academy 4, Brookline High 4, Roxbury Latin 3, Noble and Greenough's 3, Volkmann's 2, Cambridge Latin 1.
