The candidates for the Yale 'varsity crew went to the training tables yesterday. Captain Ives has succeeded in reducing the number of candidates to fourteen, of whom five have practically been decided upon. These five men are Gallaudet, stroke, 187 pounds; Ives, No. 7, 180 pounds; Paine, No. 4, 193 pounds; Van Huyck, No. 3, 179 pounds and Johnson, No. 2, 170 pounds; all of last year's crew.
