The Manhattan Athletic Club is about to go out of existence. The club house will be closed to-day and one of the most noted athletic organizations that has ever existed will exist no longer.
For months the members of the Club have been endeavoring to clear the debt but to no purpose. On Saturday night a meeting of the members was called to take up a subscription. About 200 men presented themselves, but of the sum needed only $7,000 was subscribed.
After the meeting the receiver said the house would be closed on Monday and the property would be advertised and sold within two to three weeks.
