About thirty men assembled in the trophy room of the gymnasium last night in response to Captain Wiggin's call for candidates for the 'varsity baseball nine. Captain Wiggin stated that, under the present circumstances, the most earnest efforts on the part of each candidate were necessary in order that Harvard should be fittingly represented. All the candidates will commence work this afternoon, but, for the present, they will be confined to light practice. The candidates will take short out-door runs whenever permissible, and will not be compelled to slide for at least a week. The following men are candidates for the team:
