"Le Mariage Force" of Moliere was given by the Cercle Francais last evening in Brattle Hall. The play was most enthusiastically received by the large audience. The stage management was excellent, and the orchestra, which was composed of members of the Pierian Sodality, was well conducted.
The part of Sganarelle was taken by E. H. Palmer, L. S., and was well sustained throughout the three acts. Of the singers, G. D. Whitehead, M. S., the Magicien Chantant, was especially good. The dancing of the four Espagnols and of the demons was well done. The players were all excently made up, the costumes of the four gallants being the most elaborate. Taking all things into consideration, the play was a remarkable success.
The play will be given again in Union Hall, Boston, Thursday, December 21.
