The joint committee of the New Harvard Union and Wendell Phillips Club met Thursday and settled upon the following question for the debate with Yale to be held about January 20, in Sanders Theatre: "Resolved, that independent action in politics is preferable to party application."
About December 11, there will be a competitive debate open to all members of the University, at which Harvard's three representatives will be closen by a committee of the faculty. Speeches will be limited to five minutes. It must be definitely understood that speakers do not necessarily need to be members of the debating societies. This debate is very important to Harvard interests. It is the duty of every man who can speak at all to try. Last year there were fifty candidates; this year there ought to be a hundred.
