The characterizing feature of each day's football practice seems to be an accident which disables a valuable man. Yesterday afternoon Acton, last year's guard, who was out to play for the first time this season, dislocated his elbow during the preliminary practice of the line men in breaking through.

The first and second elevens played only one short half of about ten minutes on account of the game tomorrow with Brown. John Cranston was out on the field and spent his time in teaching the centre men to open up holes for the backs. Emmons and Waters gave all their attention to getting a compact interference which should start quickly and keep together.

The practice was quicker and had more snap than it has before. The first eleven succeeded in making one touchdown, although the second eleven held them remarkably well, owing to pretty vigorous coaching. Moulton of the second eleven played a brilliant end and tackled surely. The teams lined up as follows:

FIRST ELEVEN. SECOND ELEVEN.

Richardson, l.e. r.e., Hartwell.

Hallowell, l.t. r.t., Hitch.

Manahan, l.g. r.g., Hoague.

F. Shaw, c. c. Winslow.

J. N. Shaw, r.g, l.g, Steadman.

Gould, r.t. l.t., Sever.

Brewer, r.e. l.c., Moulton.

Wrenn, q.b. q.b., Borden.

Manning, l.h.b. r.h.b., Arnold.

Jackson, r.h.b. l.h.b., Knox.

Hamlen, f.b. f.b., Weld.

After the practice of the first two elevens, two other elevens were made up of substitutes who had not had a chance to play, and a short game was played. The teams were captained by Foster and Fairchild.
