The Junior Crew.

The candidates for the '94 class crew have now been in training for about a month and on the whole the crew is up to the usual standard at this time of the year. The coaching will be done by Waters '94. At present there is but one of last year's eight, Heckscher, on the crew. However several others are expected out after the mid-years. Weed and Crane last year's substitutes are now rowing on the first crew. The candidates and their positions as they are now rowing are:

The general faults of the crew as a whole are "settling after coming to the perpendicular" and "driving on the legs at the catch." The time is fairly good. Following are the weights and most apparent faults of the individual men.

Weed, stroke, 165, does not sit easy and is stiff; his stroke is irregular at times.

Heckscher No. 7,164, does not turn enough with his shoulders and drives his legs down at the catch.

Crane, No. 6, 152, has too much up and down motion and is unsteady.

Beals, No 5,160. is too stiff and does not get enough reach.

Smith, No. 4, 153, settles badly at the finish and goes back too far.

Gardner, No. 3, 145, is too stiff, is short in his reach and drives his legs down at the catch.

Carter, No. 2, 155 1-2, is unsteady and apt to be late in the parts of the stroke.

Atwood. bow, 173, 1-2, does not turn back well with his shoulders and shrugs his shoulders in coming back.

SECOND CREW.McDonald, stroke, 154, rows up and down, goes back too far and is slow in starting and in coming up.

Soutter, No. 7, 139 1-2, does not come up with necessary snap, slow all through.

Earle, No. 6, 139, very steady but lacks reach.

Short, No. 5, 137, is too stiff and is unsteady.

Lane, No. 4, 159, is slow all through and is unsteady at the finish.

Long, No. 3, 159. is unsteady, has been out but a short while.

Morgan, No. 2, 165, is slow and drives his legs at the catch.

Bow, Damon, 162, has been out but a short time, does not come back enough with shoulders and lacks necessary ease and snap.
