On Tuesday night Thomas G. E. Frenchard was elected captain of Princeton's eleven for the season of 1893. The other candidate was Vincent, but he finally withdrew and the captaincy was offered to King. who refused it.
Trenchard played right end in the Thanksgiving game with Yale and made a very good showing against Hinkey. Before going to college he attended the Lawrenceville preparatory school, and it was there that he gained his knowledge of football. He was a substitute on Princeton's eleven of 1891, and easily made the 'varsity last year. Although only eighteen years old he runs well, tackles hard, and interferes excellently. He is popular with football men and was the choice of the advisory committee. Unless the new law about undergraduates is passed, Trenchard will have at his disposal all but two of last year's team, Homans and Flint. The former has left college and the latter will not play again. If, however, none but undergraduates are allowed on the eleven, ex-captain King. Harrold, and Balliet will be excluded.
