The M. I. T. Games.

Although the Harvard men did not fare so well in the Technology games Saturday evening as they did a year ago, they succeeded in winning the majority of the prizes. E. B. Bloss '94, lowered the world s record for the 50 yard dash by one-fifth of a second, covering the distance three successive times in 5 3-5 s.

The first event on the programme, the 50 yard dash, was run in eight preliminary and two semi-final heats. The final heat brought out E. B. Bloss '94, S. Coombs, B. A. A., A. H. Green '92, and G. K. Hawes '92. They finished in the order named. Time 5 3-5 s. The 50 yard hurdle race was won by F. W. Lord, M. I. T., in 7 1-5 sec. H. M. Wheelwright ran a dead heat for second place, but lost in the run off. Thomas Shearman, of the Manhattan Athletic Club, easily won the mile walk in 6 m. 57 2-5 s. S. Liepgold was second and F. Johnson '95 third. E. L. Endicott '94, dropped at the end of the fourth lap, and C. R. Bardeen '93 was disqualified on the last lap. W. H. Shea '92 won third in putting the 16-pound shot with a throw of 37 ft. 6 1-2 in. E. G. Giarmini, C. Y. A. C. was first, putting the shot 40 ft. 10 in. J. Crane, B. A. A. won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10 ft. 5 1-4 in. O. G. Cartwright of Yale was second and H. M. Wheelwright '94, was tied for third place with a vault of 10 ft. 2 in.

One of the most interesting events of the evening was the mile run. No Harvard man succeeded in getting a place. W. H. Allison of Worcester won in 4 m. 56 2-5 s. G. Lowell '92 was fourth. The running high kick was won by T. Porter, Mel. A. C. with the pan at 9 ft. 4 in. A. H. Green '92, was third in the standing broad jump, with a jump of 10 ft. 3-4 in. A. P. Schwauer, N. Y. A. C. won this event, jumping 10 ft. 9 1-2 in. G. R. Fearing '93 won the running high jump, with the bar at 5 ft. 8 1-4 in. It is curious to note that E. B. Bloss '94 and C. D. Hey-wood M. I. T. were tied for second, and in the jump off each cleared an inch higher than the winner. Heywood won the toss and Bloss took third.
