The will of the late Mrs. W. S. Appleton was probated in the Suffolk County probate court yesterday, By this will several public bequests are given, which amount to $180,000. Among the bequests there is $50,000 given to Harvard University. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston gets an equal amount and the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Boston Public Library get each $10,000. The will is dated July, 1885, and the public bequests are made by a codicil dated May 18, 1886.
Harvard has received still another bequest. By the will of the late C. M. Jones of Boston, Harvard College is bequeathed $6,000 for a scholarship in any part of the university agreeable to the Faculty.
