Dr. Howland Holmes, one of the oldest residents of Lexington, died suddenly Thursday afternoon. He graduated from Harvard College in 1843, and later from the Medical School. He had been in active practice for nearly half a century, and had figured prominently in town affairs. He was a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society and of other similar organizations.
