Freshman Musical Clubs.

The Freshman Glee, Banjo and Mandolin Clubs are earnestly at work preparing for their coming joint concerts. The clubs will give concerts at Cambridge and Jamaica Plain but the dates have not yet been definitely settled. The clubs have also been invited to give concerts at Worcester and Salem.

The Glee Club has been laboring under disadvantages, for it lost much valuable time owing to the lateness of its organization. At present two rehearsals are held weekly, but after the mid-years when the men have more time, they will rehearse three times a week. A new consignment of music has been received and six new pieces are being learned. There is some excellent material in the club and the outlook for a good musical organization is very promising. There are more men rehearsing than are needed and the number will soon be diminished to twenty-four singers, a leader and an accompanist.

The Banjo Club rehearses twice a week under the leadership of R. L. Whitman and the men have improved very much in the past few weeks. The club will work with the Glee Club in the joint concerts and will make special efforts to have them a financial success, in order to send the freshman crew to New London.

The class of '95 is the first to have a Mandolin Club and from the number and quality of the players the prospects for a good club are bright. No rehearsals are being held at present, but after the midyears the club will be in good running order and the music for the coming concerts will be practiced.
